I’ve been an art director since the age of five (so my mother says). My "formal" art director education began in college where I attended The Art Institute of Boston and earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (specializing in design). My passion for design and art direction led me to The Creative Circus, in Atlanta GA, where I received a graduate degree in Art Direction.
The Richards Group, in Dallas, TX is where I began my career and stayed for six and a half years. I was lucky to start my advertising career working alongside the most talented (and nicest) people and some of best accounts in the industry. TRG also is where I also met my husband and began married life. Shortly after getting married, my coast to coast journey began! My husband and I started our married life in Boston MA, it was short-lived—too cold for my Southerner husband—so we packed our bags and moved to a much more moderate, yet rainy Seattle WA. He and I both took jobs at DDB Seattle, working again with some really great people and clients that our wanderlust struck yet again! We headed back to the cold weather to New York. There I freelanced at mcgarrybowen, Gotham, INC., Alchemy and Publicis Groupe—where I was offered a full-time job and stayed for close to five years. Here I was able to embrace my love for all things beauty and fashion. I worked on some of the biggest accounts in the beauty business which meant great global ad campaigns. While there I also pitched against The Richards Group, I might add and won Talbots.
I think you know what's next... after 5+ years, two kids, a dog, and two cats later—our apartment in Brooklyn was getting way too crowded. We headed south again for more space and warmer weather. Currently my family and I live in Inman Park and I'm working as a Creative Director at VWA, vanwinkleassociates.com, in Atlanta, GA.
I have fully embraced my inner southerner—i've even been known to say Y'all on occasion but please don't tell my mother.
